Mega Tree Plantation Drive under Meri Mati Mera Desh (NSS 2023)

The Sabarmati University NSS Wing organized a remarkable Mega Tree Plantation Drive on 26th July 2023 at two different venues: Lapkaman Village in Taluka: Daskroi, Ahmedabad District, and Uvarsad Village in Taluka: Gandhinagar, Gandhinagar District. The event aimed to promote environmental conservation and create awareness about the significance of planting trees.

b. Uvarsad Village, Taluka: Gandhinagar, District: Gandhinagar. Timing: 10:30 am

Total Number of Plants: 300

Plants Species Planted:

• – Syzygium cumini (Jamun)
• – Moringa oleifera (Saragva)
• – Samanea saman (Rain Tree)
• – Mimusops elengi (Borsali)
• – Variegata (Balbeniya)
• – Cordia dichotoma (Gunda)
• – Adhatoda vasica (Ardusi)

The volunteers, along with the participants from Lapkaman and Uvarsad teams, gathered at their respective venues at 10:30 am. The event commenced with a brief opening ceremony where the NSS Wing leaders addressed the attendees, emphasizing the importance of preserving the environment and the role of tree plantation in combating climate change.

Following the inauguration, the participants actively engaged in planting a total of 300 saplings in the two villages. The chosen plant species, including Syzygium cumini (Jamun), Moringa oleifera (Saragva), Samanea saman (Rain Tree), Mimusops elengi (Borsali), Variegata (Balbeniya), Cordia dichotoma (Gunda), and Adhatoda vasica (Ardusi), were selected for their ecological significance and potential benefits to the local communities.

The plantation drive was not just an effort to enhance the green cover but also to involve the villagers and create awareness among them about the importance of trees in maintaining ecological balance.

The Mega Tree Plantation Drive conducted by Sabarmati University NSS Wing made a positive impact on both Lapkaman and Uvarsad villages. Through the efforts of enthusiastic volunteers, 300 plants of various species were planted, contributing to a greener and more sustainable environment. The event played a crucial role in fostering a sense of environmental responsibility among the participants and the local communities.
