The Sabarmati University
Sabarmati University is Gujarat’s first state private dual mode university situated near Vishno Devi circle, Ahmedabad with prime focus dedicated to nurture skill and interdisciplinary education. Sabarmati university was entitled an esteemed status of state private university in 2009 under state legislature of Gujarat act no: 8 and further amended with act no: 20 in the in the year 2019.
As per section 22 of UGC act, Sabarmati University is entitled to run, recognise and certify the degrees awarded to its students, who have studied on its main campus on regular mode. Sabarmati University is recognised and approved by University Grants Commission (UGC), GOVT. of Gujarat Gazette Association of Indian Universities (AIU), National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), Bar Council of India (BCI) with effect from 2009. It performs under the distinguish guidance of its Board of Management (BOM), Governing Bodies and Committees.
Sabarmati University is spread over lush green land and eco-friendly campus within geographical boundaries of Ahmedabad. It provides array of Certificates, Diplomas, Graduate, Post Graduate and Ph.D. programmes to boast a legacy of rich Indian education, culture and artistic skills among future civilization of India and abroad.
Sabarmati University understands the vital role of higher education in human life and hence has high concentration to acquire talented faculty members who form the backbone to the supervision system that provides ample learning opportunities to its students. SU firmly believes in fostering lifelong passion and zest for knowledge among its learners. This makes them possess entrepreneurial and independent mind. Since its establishment in the year 2009, Sabarmati University has acclaimed its legacy of success and prominence in the field of higher education by imparting changes in teaching learning experiences. Sabarmati University is celebrating the legacy of the glorious 12 years of dedication and focus on catering the qualitative need of Indian higher education and to become cutting-edge premium university in this technologically advanced world. At SU, the students are expected to have an enriching and delightful learning experiences that will enable them to reach on the pick of their professional career.
We foster sharpening of skills and enrichment of knowledge from admission to their convocation through ample of extra-curricular activities, co-curricular activities and amendment of internship. The faculties at SU not only keep themselves at par with the current developments of world but also contribute to the expansion of body of knowledge in their field of experience. The Governing Body shall consist of members as described in section 20(1) of the Sabarmati University Act 8 of 2009 and Chapter 2 of Statutes.
The Registrar shall be the Member Secretary of the Governing Body.
(i) “Nomination by the Governing Body”, The Governing Body may nominate qualified, experienced person as per clauses 20(1) (c), (e), and (g) of Act. The nominated person must have contributed their expertise, scholarship, innovative practice in their respective field, in the opinion of the Governing Body.
(ii) “Nomination of Deans by Rotation” shall be made by the President considering the various disciplines and schools of University and Departments within over all seniority.
The Governing Body as per clause 20(1) (e) & (f) of Act may for the purpose of consultation in distinct fields cited above, invite any person having special knowledge or practice/ experience, to the meeting when the relevant matter is being considered. The person/s so invited shall be entitled to travelling allowance and sitting fees as per University’s norms.
The Board of Management shall consist of members as described in section 21(1) of the SU (CTU) Act 8 of 2009 and Chapter 3 of Statutes.
The Registrar shall be the Member Secretary of the Board of Management.
(i) “Nomination by the Sponsoring Body”, The Board may nominate qualified, experienced person as per clauses 21(1) (c), & (d), of Act. The nominated person must have contributed their expertise, scholarship, innovative practice in their respective field, in the opinion of the Board.
(ii) “Nomination of Members by Rotation” shall be made by the sponsoring body and the President considering the various disciplines and schools of University and Departments within over all seniority.
The Board of Management as per clause 20(1) (e) & (f) may for the purpose of consultation in distinct fields cited above, invite any person having special knowledge or practice/ experience, to the meeting when the relevant matter is being considered. The person/s so invited shall be entitled to travelling allowance and sitting fees as per University’s norms.
The academic council shall consist of members as described in section 22(1) of the SU (CTU)
Act 8 of 2009 and Chapter 4 of Statutes.
(1) The Registrar shall be Member secretary of the Academic council.
(i) “Nomination of Academicians & Deans”, the provost and Governing Body may nominate qualified, experienced person as per Chapter 4(1) (ii) & (iii) of Statutes of the University. The nominated person must have contributed their expertise, scholarship, innovative practice in their respective field, in the opinion of the Academic council.
(ii) “Nomination by Rotation” shall be made by the Provost considering the various disciplines and Schools of University and Departments within over all seniority.
The Chairman of the Academic council may invite for the purpose of consultation any person having special knowledge or practice/ experience, to the meeting when the relevant matter is being considered. Such person may speak and otherwise take part in the proceedings of the meeting, but shall not be entitled to vote. The person/s so invited shall be entitled to travelling allowance and sitting fees as per University’s norms.
Internal Quality Assurance Cell
The ongoing changes in higher education, in the wake of national educational reforms, legislative enactments, the UGC/MHRD directives and the challenges put forth by globalization, necessitate that the universities actively engage themselves in the development and implementation of quality benchmarks in all their key performance areas. Committed to sustain its top ranking position, the Sabarmati University has established the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) to institutionalize the process of quality enhancement and sustenance in all the key areas of its delivery.
Centre for Internal Quality Assurance (CIQA)
SU has established Centre for Internal Quality Assurance (CIQA) to conduct institutional compliances & quality audits and to promote, enhance and best-in-class quality assurance. With the objective of Centre for Internal Quality Assurance (CIQA) is to develop and put in place a comprehensive and dynamic internal quality assurance system to provide high quality programmes of higher education in the Open and Distance Learning mode.
BOARD OF STUDIES
Each Board shall consist of the following members:
(i) Maximum Nine / Minimum Two senior teachers who have specialized knowledge of the subject, to be nominated by the Provost; The Provost shall decide the Chairperson among them.
(ii) Two experts from the relevant industry/ research organization as nominated by the Provost.
(iii) The board may co-opt two experts (senior teacher/ Technologist/ researcher) having special knowledge, if needed.
The term of the office of the members shall be for three years. There shall be the following Boards of Studies in the subjects or group of subjects under the respective faculties. The Provost is authorized to add the subjects or the group of subjects in the below given respective board of studies as and when required.
