Message from the Director

My dear Student,
I am writing to you today to emphasize the importance of the National Education Policy (NEP) and Vocational Courses at Sabarmati University in Ahmedabad.
The NEP has been designed to provide a holistic and flexible education system that enables students to develop their full potential and contribute to the nation’s growth. The policy emphasizes vocational education and skill development, which can benefit students by preparing them for the workforce and providing them with practical skills and knowledge.

At Sabarmati University, we understand the importance of vocational courses, and we offer a range of programs in fields such as tourism, hospitality, management, Engineering, IT, Agriculture and several other Skill based courses. Our courses are designed to provide students with hands-on training and practical experience, preparing them for successful careers in their chosen fields.
We believe that vocational courses are essential for the growth of our economy, and they play a vital role every industry. India is one of the fastest-growing economies in the world and there is a significant demand for skilled professionals in almost every field. By offering vocational courses, we aim to bridge the gap between the demand and supply of skilled professionals in the industry.

We are committed to providing our students with the best education possible, and we believe that vocational courses are an integral part of that education. We encourage all our students to take advantage of the vocational courses offered at Sabarmati University and prepare themselves for successful careers.
Thank you for choosing Sabarmati University, and we look forward to helping you achieve your career goals.
Sincerely,
Prof (Dr.) Anshumali Pandey
Director – School of Vocational Studies.

Introduction

Sabarmati University offers courses currently beginning with certificate course and leading to Bachelor of Vocational Degree (B.Voc). Every individual level/year is a standalone certification recognised and awarded by Sabarmati University. This course allows the students who have completed 12th standard or equivalent to join directly at NSQF Level 5 based on their academic achievements. The target group for such courses is largely marginalized youth who are seeking non-formal educational methods to enhance earning capabilities and thereby improving livelihood conditions. This Vocational Educational Programme is being implemented for the first time in India with a focus on job specific skills rather than providing only a broad based education.

Ministry of HRD, Government of India had issued an Executive Order in September 2011 for National Vocational Education Qualification Framework (NVEQF). Subsequently, Ministry of Finance, in pursuance of the decision of Cabinet Committee on Employment and Skill Development in its meeting held on 19th December, 2013, has issued a notification for National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF) which supersedes NVEQF.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has launched a scheme on skills development based higher education as part of college/university education, leading to Bachelor of Vocation (B.Voc.) Degree with multiple exits such as Diploma/Advanced Diploma under the NSQF. The B.Voc. programme is focused on universities and colleges providing undergraduate studies which would also incorporate specific job roles and their NOSs alongwith broad based general education. This would enable the graduates completing B.Voc. to make a meaningful participation in accelerating India’s economy by gaining appropriate employment, becoming entrepreneurs and creating appropriate knowledge.
