National Science Day Celebration 2023
National Science Day is celebrated every year on February 28, the day when Sir C.V Raman discovered the Raman Effect, a phenomenon in spectroscopy in 1928 while working in the laboratory of the Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science, Kolkata that fetched him in winning the prestigious Nobel Prize in 1930.
The theme for National Science Day 2023 celebration is “Global Science for Global Well Being”. The students created an awareness among the youth of the state about the Negative Usage of Scientific Technologies (mainly focusing on the nuclear technology and terrorism).
School of Pure & Applied Sciences in coordination with G20 committee and University NSS wing jointly organized the event. The Celebration was inaugurated with the Lighting of the Lamp and Saraswati Vandanana. Dr. K.B. Vyas (Provost, SU), Dr. Jyoti Srivastava (Registrar I/C, SU) Prof. (Dr.) Parshuram Dhaked (Dean Academics, SU) and Mr. Kunal Patwari (NSS Coordinator) were the dignitaries present and were felicitated by the Faculty members and Program coordinators. The event was hosted by university students, Dhruvi Patel and Meet Patel. The total strength of participating students was 100 & more than 250 students attended the event. The students presented the views on what exactly Raman Effect is and how it was discovered through the help of a documentary. The students also presented the information on the various Indian Nobel laureates and their contributions to the society. Various competitions were organized i.e. Quiz competition, Debate competition, Speech/Elocution competition and Science Working Model presentation.
Ms. Siddhi Kediya, appreciated the participants and winners of the National Science Day events for their zealous participation and extended her vote of thanks to the participation, Vice Chancellor, Registrar Dean, Academics, HODs and Faculty members and the organizing departments for the successful completion of the event.
