Event Report: Celebration of World Human Rights Day 2025

World Human Rights Day 2025 was Observed on 11 Dec 2025: Sabarmati University, Ahmedabad, organized the World Human Rights Day Celebration – 2025   on Thursday, 11th December 2025, at Hall No. 1, in accordance with the Government of India’s directive to observe Human Rights Week. The programme commenced at 11:00 AM and witnessed the presence of eminent dignitaries, faculty members, students, and staff.

The programme began with the arrival of the dignitaries, who were warmly received by the organizing committee. This was followed by the traditional Lamp Lighting Ceremony (Deep Prajwalana),   symbolizing the ideals of justice, liberty, equality, and human dignity.

Thereafter, the University Anthem was played, creating a solemn and inspiring atmosphere. The formal proceedings commenced with a   welcome address by Ms. Shrushti Oza, who warmly welcomed all dignitaries, faculty members, and students present for the occasion.

The dignitaries were then felicitated with mementos in recognition of their valuable contributions to the field of law, justice, and public service.

The programme was graced by the presence of distinguished guests, namely:

• Dr. Justice K. J. Thaker  , Chairperson, Gujarat State Human Rights Commission (Chief Guest)
• Shri B. S. Upadhyay  , Principal District Judge (Retd.) and Member, Gujarat State Human  Rights Commission (Guest of Honour)
• Shri T. V. Joshi  , Registrar (Legal), Gujarat State Human Rights Commission (Special Guest)
• Shri Keyur K. Patel  , Legal Officer (Guest)
• Smt. K. R. Dabhi  , Deputy Superintendent of Police (Guest)

The academic session included addresses by the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour, and Special Guest, which added depth and insight to the celebration and emphasized the importance of human rights and constitutional values in contemporary society.

The programme also witnessed participation from the university leadership and students, reflecting the active academic engagement of the institution in promoting human rights awareness.

The programme was further enriched by the address of President Shri Sunny Patel, who reiterated the university’s commitment to constitutional values, social justice, and human rights.

The formal proceedings concluded with a Vote of Thanks proposed by Registrar Dr. Jyoti Shrivastava, expressing sincere gratitude to all dignitaries, faculty members, students, and the organizing team for their support and cooperation.

Thereafter, the Human Rights Oath was administered, reaffirming the collective commitment to respect, protect, and promote human rights. The programme concluded with the National Anthem, marking a dignified end to the celebration.

The event successfully reinforced the spirit of Article 1 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, affirming that all human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights.
