Sabarmati Celebrated World Environment Day 2024: Sabarmati University has a vision to produce noble & global citizens. SU actualizes this vision eventually with each activity. Celebration of World Environment Day is one such chain. This year’s theme was “Land Restoration, Desertification, and Drought Resilience.
“This theme highlighted the importance of restoring degraded land, combating desertification, and building resilience to drought. The primary aim of World Environment Day 2024 was to drive global action and commitment towards a more sustainable and resilient future for our planet. In today’s world environment needs our focused, intense & urgent attention as the world faces environmental issues & problems.
The environment is the most precious gift to humans on this planet. Today we need to focus on the importance of the environment and to remind ourselves that nature shouldn’t be taken for granted. The day also reminds us of various measures and steps to be taken to protect our environment.
Our environment is one of the most important aspects to survive on this planet. Celebrating the day under the observation of the event department of Sabarmati University and the NSS wing organized a Tree Plantation Drive on 5th June 2024 at the university campus.
The event was graced by the Provost, Registrar, and Dean Academics, as well as the faculty and staff members including Students. Plants like mango, amla, pomegranate, and lemon were selected for plantation. Students and faculty members enthusiastically participated in the following drive. Students also took the pledge to constantly take care of the planted plants. More than 100 plants were planted by the members.
