Introduction:
Sabarmati University, in collaboration with the Election Commission of India and the Ministry of Education, organized a Voter Awareness Campaign on the 18th of March 2024. The primary objective of this initiative was to enlighten and empower individuals regarding the significance of voting and their pivotal role
in shaping the trajectory of our nation. Event was anchored by Ms. Sweta Thakkar.
Key Highlights:
- Distinguished Presence: The event witnessed the esteemed presence of Dr. Yogesh R. Parekh, Nodal Officer appointed by the Election Commission of India for Ahmedabad District. Dr. Parekh graced the occasion with his invaluable insights and guidance, further enriching the campaign’s impact. Additionally, the Registrar and Dean Academics of Sabarmati University were also in attendance, underscoring the university’s commitment to civic engagement and awareness.
- Memorandum of Understanding (MOU): A significant milestone of the event was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Collector & District Election Officer, Ahmedabad, and Sabarmati University, Ahmedabad. This collaboration signifies a strategic partnership aimed at fostering voter education and participation within the university community and beyond.
- Voters Pledge: Dr. Tirtha Kanti Karmakar, NSS Programme Coordinator, administered the voters’ pledge, reinforcing the solemn commitment of individuals towards exercising their democratic right to vote. This symbolic gesture underscored the importance of active citizenship and civic responsibility.
- Selfie Moment: As a token of solidarity and camaraderie, a group selfie was captured at the designated selfie point, encapsulating the spirit of unity and engagement prevalent throughout the event. This light-hearted moment served to immortalize the shared commitment towards promoting voter awareness and participation.
