The Industrial Visit to the Montage Laboratories Pvt. Ltd. Himmatnagar was organized by Sabarmati University, School of Pharmacy on 12/03/2024. The total 30 students of B.Pharm and two faculties actively participate for the Industrial visit which was successfully coordinated by Dr. Jitendra Patel. We started our Journey at 7.30 AM from Sabarmati University Ahmedabad and reached Montage Laboratories Pvt. Ltd. Himmatnagar at 10 AM. After reaching the Industry we were taken to the gowning room and provided with gown and caps. All students were divided in groups.

A brief Introduction about the Industry was given by Mr. Shripal Shah and after that he was introduce us with QA executive Ms. Niyati Patel. She started telling us about the no of people, manufacturing products and the different departments. After that firstly we were taken to the gowning room separate for male and female and provided with gowns and caps several posters were there instructing proper gowning procedure.

The first department that we visited was raw material and packing material warehousing area where we got to learn how the raw material and packing material are stored and labelled and we have seen different types labels with different colors fixed on containers indicating its batch number , lot number issue date , expiration date , reset date and storage conditions.. They were  using in-house  software for digital data maintenance.

Then we were taken to dispensing area where we got to know about the procedure for dispensing of raw and packaging material according to given MRO (material request order) provided by production area. The next area we visited was washing area where different equipment were washed according to developed cleaning procedure, we were informed about cleaning and validation procedures. After that we visited Ampoule washing, drying, and filling and sealing production line ampoule washing machine,

Process:

Ampoules unboxing →feeding onto the conveyor belt →water rinsing → → ultrasonic washing screw feeding → cam lifting→ mechanical arm turning the ampoule mouth down→ ampoule external rinsing→ 1st flushing with circulation water with needle inserting into the ampoule→ 2nd flushing with circulation water with needle inserting into the ampoule→ 1st blowing with cleaning compressed air with needle inserting into the ampoule→1st flushing with WFI with needle inserting into the ampoule→2nd blowing with cleaning compressed air with needle inserting into the ampoule→ 3rd blowing with cleaning compressed air with needle inserting into the ampoule →ampoule external blowing with cleaning compressed air, needle withdraw out of the ampoule→ mechanical arm turning ampoule mouth up→ ampoule out→ preheating→ high temperature sterilization → cooling→ ampoule delivery→ turn table ampoule feeding → screw feeding→ filling→ nitrogen gassing→ ampoule preheating→ ampoule sealing→counting→ ampoule outlet

Afterwards we moved towards the visual inspection section where we learned how ampoules are qualified for packaging. Any uneven sealed ampoules were rejected and the rest of ampoules are carried forward for packaging. The carry forwarded ampoules are then sending to the printing area where each and every ampoule glass is printed with the company’s logo. After successful printing the ampoules are packed manually.

Meanwhile we got to know about how the sampling has been carried out for IPQC test and what different kind of analysis techniques they were using. Then we head towards packaging area, the whole packaging area was divided into two parts like primary packaging area and secondary packaging so we informed about the procedure in detail, we learnt about how the packaging material is selected and tested for its appropriateness and in accordance with the foreign market requirement for the packaging and labelling. Finally we gather in the conference room where the HR head gave us the overview about different plants of Montage pvt. Ltd and their growth, achievements. Lastly, we ended the visit by clicking a group photograph at 2:15 PM and we moved out of the plant.
